Caldwell Solicitors is recruiting for a role for a legal graduate/construction field graduate/paralegal (with training contract opportunity).
This is a genuinely exciting opportunity to join a highly regarded construction and procurement solicitors in Belfast. This position is ideal for an individual who has previously worked in a construction and/or commercial department of a law firm, a legal graduate who has completed internships, or a graduate in a construction discipline within this field who wishes to progress their career in the area of Construction and Commercial Law.
Applications will also be received from newly qualified solicitors who may have undertaken a construction/procurement seat during their training contract and who are keen to grow as an individual by getting actively involved in high calibre work.
Reporting to an Associate Solicitor and the Partner, the successful candidate will work diligently on high volume contentious and non-contentious case files, from opening through to closing, building and maintaining strong client relationships and providing an excellent client experience.
The Role will include:

Reviewing and reporting on a variety of construction contracts

Document review, and analysis of legal documentation

Providing excellent service to your clients, both internal and external
-
Proactively manage and progress own workload in line with service level agreements, best practice and internal policies and procedures

Taking instruction from clients and updating case files timely and accurately

Drafting witness statements
-
Involvement in ADR, Adjudication, Conciliation and Mediation

Preparing bundles for trial
-
Legal research, updating Partner and/or Associate Solicitor on findings

Assisting on Counsel where required

Assisting with billing/invoicing
-
All other administrative duties as required to ensure the smooth running of the department

Potential for Training Contract by way of Legal Practice Course or Solicitor Qualifying Examination route
The Person:
-
Degree in Law or Construction field discipline with a 2:2 or above and/or a minimum 12 months experience as a Paralegal/Legal Executive

Experience working in a Construction and/or Commercial Law department will be an advantage

Knowledge of the adjudication process will also be advantageous
-
Can-do attitude with an enthusiasm to connect with the team and their work

Proactive and can work autonomously

Highly organised, detail oriented and a natural planner

Ability to make sound judgements based on good insights and analytical rigour

Exceptional attention to detail when handling high volume case files

Someone with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Technical mindset with an eagerness for learning new systems

Common sense, ability to think logically, and work under pressure
